The Portable pH Meter has a wide range of applications in many fields, and using it correctly can ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
First of all, it needs to be calibrated before use. Usually the Portable pH Meter is equipped with a standard buffer solution, and common buffer solutions have pH values of 4.00, 6.86 and 9.18. Immerse the electrode of the pH meter in the corresponding buffer solution and perform calibration according to the operating instructions of the instrument. This step is very critical because calibration can eliminate the error of the instrument itself and ensure that the measurement results are consistent with the actual pH value.
Next, prepare the solution to be tested. For liquid samples to be tested, such as swimming pool water, drinking water, etc., ensure that the sample is fully mixed and evenly mixed to avoid local concentration differences affecting the measurement results. If it is a solid sample, it needs to be prepared into a solution in a certain proportion.
Then, carefully immerse the electrode of the pH meter in the solution to be tested. The electrode needs to be completely immersed, but be careful to avoid touching the bottom and wall of the container, because collisions may damage the electrode. During the measurement process, keep the electrode still, generally wait for a few seconds to tens of seconds until the pH meter reading is stable. This stable reading is the pH value of the solution to be tested.
After use, clean the pH meter in time. First rinse the electrode with distilled water to remove the residual solution to be tested, and then soak the electrode with a special electrode protection solution to extend the service life of the electrode. For the body of the Portable pH Meter, wipe it clean with a clean damp cloth and store it properly.
In addition, pay attention to the impact of ambient temperature on the measurement results during use. Generally, portable pH meters have a suitable operating temperature range. If the ambient temperature exceeds this range, it may cause measurement errors. In the case of large temperature deviations, some pH meters require temperature compensation settings to improve measurement accuracy.
Correctly use the portable pH meter, from calibration to measurement to cleaning and storage, each step cannot be ignored, so as to obtain reliable pH measurement results.
